In a significant boost to our innovative efforts, TOffeeAM has raised £1 million in seed funding to enhance our topology optimization software for Additive Manufacturing (AM). This round was led by IQ Capital, with significant contributions from the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Imperial College London’s Techcelerate programme, enabling us to accelerate development and expand our market presence.
The investment will enable us to expand our engineering team and enhance our operational capabilities. It will also assist in further developing our growing customer base, which already includes prominent names like GE Aviation, Baker Hughes, and a leading Formula 1 motor racing team.
Founded in 2019 by Francesco Montomoli (CEO), Marco Pietropaoli (COO), and Audrey Gaymann (CTO), TOffeeAM originated from four years of cutting-edge research at Imperial College London. Today, we license our flagship software, TOffee, to enterprises utilizing AM, helping them optimize and innovate with unprecedented efficiency.
Transformative Technology for Industry Leaders
TOffee’s capabilities are particularly transformative in the aeronautics and automotive sectors, where it enhances part design and system resilience while reducing reliance on human intuition and the number of component parts. Our software streamlines the production of crucial structures, such as coolant systems for gas turbines, delivering performance that surpasses traditional heat exchangers.
Since our inception, TOffeeAM has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including:
- The Enterprise Fellowship from the Royal Academy of Engineering
- The Techcelerate prize, Amazon AWS Programmable 2018,
- The Amelia Earhart Fellowship
Our technology offers up to 40% more efficient solutions than competitors, enabling parts production up to twenty times faster.
A Commitment to Speed and Innovation
“We are delighted to receive this funding from our investor partners—it’s a fantastic indication of their faith in the commercial applications of our technology,” stated Francesco Montomoli, CEO of TOffeeAM. This funding will allow us to continue significantly accelerating 3D printing across all industries and to expand our team with expert engineers and additional team members. We are scaling our solution to meet the needs of our rapidly expanding customer base.”
Ed Stacey, Managing Partner at IQ Capital,. expressed his support: “The TOffeeAM team has already achieved a great deal with their software, which is advancing the field of AM. We are proud to support Francesco and his expert team as they further commercialize their technology with additional staff, particularly engineers who will drive the innovation at the heart of this company.”
Brijesh Roy, Seed Investment Manager at Imperial College London, added, “TOffeeAM’s success to date is a source of great pride for Imperial. The combination of technical innovation and customer understanding TOffeeAM has achieved since its inception is an outstanding example of the benefits of translating university research into industry. We are thrilled to see this promising startup emerge from our entrepreneurial ecosystem.”
Looking Ahead
As we embark on this exciting journey, this funding will drive our growth and facilitate the wider use of our transformative technology across various industries. TOffeeAM is at the forefront of the additive manufacturing revolution, pushing the boundaries of what is possible in smart industrial production.
