ToffeeX was one of nine manufacturing startups selected for the prestigious Third Cohort of Sixth Sense, which was unveiled at the Showcase Day event on September 20th, 2023.

Sixth Sense is an open innovation platform where ambitious, scaling start-ups can connect with world-class companies to find scale and solve some of humanity’s biggest challenges. We stood out from a competitive pool of applicants with our groundbreaking solutions, which address critical manufacturing challenges. These solutions focus on sustainability and the integration of digital realities into the manufacturing process.

The cohort comprises startups from seven countries, each bringing innovative approaches to pressing issues in manufacturing, such as enhancing product sustainability, waste elimination, capturing real-time data, automating design, and integrating robotics into production lines.

Meet the Nine Innovative Startups:

  1. Acerta Analytics, Canada: Provides advanced analytics solutions using ML/AI to transform complex product data into actionable insights, enhancing quality and supporting early defect detection in vehicle part manufacturing.
  2. Circularise, Netherlands: Offers digital product passports for comprehensive traceability and secure data exchange in industrial supply chains, promoting transparency and sustainability.
  3. Dessia, France: Features virtual “bots” to assist engineers in designing mechanical systems, providing support and insights throughout the design process.
  4. Flexxbotics, Boston, US: Specializes in creating flexible, next-generation machining environments for high-mix automation-intensive manufacturers using their innovative FlexxCORE™ technology.
  5. Launchpad, Los Angeles, US: Utilizes AI and simulation technologies to automate design, procurement, and manufacturing processes, focusing on mass customization and software-defined robotics.
  6. Rafinex, Luxembourg: Offers AI stochastic topology optimization for safe, lightweight designs, managing uncertainty and risks in safety-critical sectors like aerospace and automotive.
  7. RV Magnetics, Slovakia: It has developed the world’s smallest passive sensor based on MicroWire technology. Due to its unique capabilities, it is suitable for a wide range of applications.
  8. ToffeeX, London, UK: Provides state-of-the-art multi-physics generative design software to empower engineers to optimize components and systems efficiently.
  9. Zaptic, Manchester, UK: Offers job instruction and collaboration tools for frontline teams, along with a no-code toolkit to accelerate digital transformation in daily operations.

Journey Ahead with Sixth Sense

Over the next 16 weeks, ToffeeX, along with the other startups, will collaborate intensively with Hexagon, refining our offerings and gaining access to decades of market insights. This collaboration is designed to accelerate our journey to commercial success.

Josh Weiss, president of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division, emphasized the search for innovations that enable manufacturing leaders to spearhead the net-zero transition, particularly through sustainable product design. “We’re thrilled with the caliber of the startups participating in this cohort,” Weiss stated.
