What’s New in January 2026: Toolbox Versioning for Reproducible Design

Engineering teams move fast, but consistency still matters. That’s why our January 2026 release introduces Toolbox Versioning: a simple but powerful way to control exactly which toolbox configuration is used in each project.

With toolbox versioning, you can now choose the version of the toolbox at project creation. This means your results remain reproducible and stable over time, while still giving you the flexibility to adopt new capabilities when it makes sense for your workflow.

Why toolbox versioning matters

As design optimisation becomes part of everyday engineering decisions, small configuration changes can lead to big shifts in performance, constraints, or convergence behaviour. Toolbox versioning ensures that results can be reproduced months later, even as the platform and models are updated.
Teams can collaborate knowing they are working from the same validated baseline, and long‑running projects are protected from surprise changes caused by background updates.

In essence:

  • Results can be reproduced months later, even as the platform evolves
  • Teams can collaborate knowing they’re working from the same baseline
  • Long-running projects won’t be affected by background updates

How it works

When creating a new toolbox, simply select the version you want from the dropdown:

  • Jan-2026: Select the “Jan‑2026” toolbox version when you need a stable baseline. This is ideal for production programmes, long‑running optimisation campaigns, and any situation where traceability and reproducibility are required.
  • Latest: Use the “Latest” version for new projects where taking advantage of the newest algorithms and features matters more than strict backward compatibility.

Getting started with toolbox versioning

To start using toolbox versioning, create a new toolbox in either a new or an existing project.

The chosen version is fixed for the toolbox, and it’s visible on the toolbox tab.

As additional toolbox versions are released over time, you will be able to select the most appropriate version for each project and phase of development, balancing innovation with reproducibility in a controlled way.

This update is another step toward giving engineers more control over their design process, without disrupting existing tools or workflows.
